Now tell me, what exactly is a Front Porch Group?
A place to build closer friendships.....
Ecclesiastes 4:9-10 Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their toil. For if they fall, one will lift up his fellow. But woe to him who is alone when he falls and has not another to lift him up!
Very few of us make the time to build strong relationships outside our families, although we know how much it would enrich our lives. Perhaps we are too busy or perhaps we are nervous about the idea, but deep down we know that our current culture has isolated us, and that this is not a good thing.
Front Porch Groups are weekly gatherings of CBC friends where we learn what it means to "do life together." We eat, we encourage, we pray, we learn from God's Word....and we laugh. Time-wise it may feel indulgent, but we need each other and this is a simple way to make it happen.
A place where needs are met.....
Titus 3:14 And let our people learn to devote themselves to good works, so as to help cases of urgent need, and not be unfruitful.
Front Porch Groups are small groups on a mission - to meet needs. We will love and help each other within the group and we will also be challenged each month to serve the needs of those God puts in our paths. All of us come in contact with people who could use some help occasionally. Maybe the elderly lady down the street has a fence that needs to be repaired so her dog won't keep getting out; maybe someone has hurt his back and needs to have his lawn mowed; maybe the church grounds need mulch....Serving together, we can do it more simply.
A "front porch" to CBC.....
Romans 12:10-13 Love one another in brotherly affection. Outdo one another in showing honor. Do not be slothful in zeal, be fervent in spirit, serve the Lord. Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer. Contribute to the needs of the saints and seek to show hospitality.
Front Porch Groups are a great place to "sit on the porch" with family and friends and have conversations about the things that really matter. Do you have questions? This is a safe place to ask them. How should God’s Word make a difference in our everyday lives? This is the place to figure it out together. Want a life that has real purpose? Come be challenged to grow and to be held accountable to do the things in life that matter most. As you hear stories of how God has intervened in the lives of others, He will become more real to you than ever.
Everyone is welcome.....so how do I join a group? Contact the church office for more information about a group starting in your area.
